Review: “Girl in a Blue Coat” by Monica Hesse is an incredible fictional story written during real historical events. What made the book interesting was that the author made the blue coat as a huge part of the story, because that was the only noticeable information Hanneke had gotten about the Jewish girl.

The Girl in the Blue Coat is a powerful, historical mystery. I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in history, particularly fans of Lydia Syson and Elizabeth Wein. The Girl in the Blue Coat. A long time before Bas died, we had a pretend argument about whose fault it was that he'd fallen in love with me.

It's your fault, he told me. Because you're lovable. I told him he was wrong. That it was lazy to blame his falling in love on me. Irresponsible, really. I remember everything about this conversation. Meticulously researched, intricately plotted, and beautifully written, Girl in the Blue Coat is an extraordinary, gripping novel from a bright new voice in historical fiction.

Special thanks to The Novl for providing me with an advance copy of the book for review. The Girl in the Red Coat is Kate Hamer's debut novel. It's garnered lots of attention as a finalist for both the Costa Book Award for First Novel and the Dagger Award.

And this is what I love about debuts - there's no history, no expectations of what the story is going to be, no familiarity with the author's style or storytelling - it's a story /5. It is meticulously researched and taut with suspense, mystery and romance.

GIRL IN THE BLUE COAT is such a sad and heartbreaking book, but it reads like an action-mystery-romance novel. I do not know how Hesse did it, especially after writing only the facts for so many years. The best thing I can say about this book is how gorgeous the writing is.

Coat-check/hat-check girl definition is - a woman whose job is to take and return the things that people leave in a coat check room.
